The Village of West Dean

It's 8am on Friday, 24th November 2006 and it has been raining overnight.

The Village of West Dean is situated on the Hampshire/Wiltshire county border between Salisbury and Romsey. The former Red Lion Public House was well known for being half in each County.

St. Mary's Church is to the north of Dean station, which is on the main railway line between Salisbury and Southampton.

Dean Hill to the south of the village is the site of a former Royal Naval Armaments Depot (RNAD Dean Hill). Defence Estates concluded the sale of this site during April 2006.

The largest employer in West Dean is currently the Sawmills owned and operated by East Brothers (Timber) Ltd, timber importers and merchants since 1886.
